What is Buzdeo?
These days most of us are taking video clips either using a camcorder, camera or handset (mobile phone),
to record memories and events. So after you have taken your video, you want other people to see it,
you could of course invite friends round and show it on a computer or television screen or maybe
have them all look into the LCD screen on the device, but that's very limited, and what if you have
friends, family or colleagues who live some distance away? well you could just email it,
but clips emailed may be quite large, may not be able to be played by the recipient,
and once you have emailed it, you can't really get it back...
We have a solution to these common problems, and that's a easy video sharing solution which
lets you stay in control of your clips and gets around compatibility problems that you may
encounter when sending videos to other people. Buzdeo has been created to take away all the
complexity and enable you to:
Get you videos online quickly and effortlessly, we do all the hard work..
Automatically email a link to all the people who you want to share them with.
Allow you to see when videos are viewed and more importantly be able to
pause them or delete them altogether.
How is Buzdeo Different from other
video Sharing Sites?
When we were looking for sites to share our own video clips, we looked at a
number of well known sites, probably the most well known is YouTube®. But most of these
sites are not aimed at sharing personal memories or sharing business ideas with potential
clients, but geared to mass entertainment, this is fine for a lot of people, but these
types of sites make it really easy to have videos copied and sent on throughout the web.
Post a video today and it may end up with thousands of other people tomorrow. You also
find that if you examine their Terms that you in most cases grant them a perpetual licence
on your content, which enables the site to display your content where and when the web
site chooses.
Buzdeo is about controlled sharing - yes you may want to make a video public and attach
it to your Blog or social networking page, and that's fine you can do this, however you
still stay in control and can 'turn any of your videos off' at a moments notice.
Alternatively you may just want to share a video with a select group of people; again
Buzdeo lets you do this. We believe that video sharing should be fun and easy to use,
without having to worry about your clips getting into the 'wrong hands'. You don’t assign
any rights to Buzdeo for the content, it stays 100% yours.
You retain full ownership of your videos with no assignment of rights to any party (including Buzdeo).
You choose who has access and rights to view your video.
We don't have annoying adverts all over our site.
If I share a video, is it secure?
Buzdeo is different to many other video sharing sites and other means of sharing videos,
when a video is viewed via Buzdeo it is streamed to the viewer; basically we send the
viewer a stream of data which is never stored on the viewer’s hard disk
We store your media on our own dedicated servers, in secure Data Centres (the type that banks use),
we can therefore say that your data is as secure as banking data..
We have technology in place which makes grabbing or 'ripping' this stream very difficult, and
would be beyond the capabilities of most individuals
The advantage of our technology is that you can control who views (a bit like your own Television channel)
and you can stop broadcasting when you want to
Ok, I can see
the benefits of using Buzdeo, so how I get my video clips online?
Modern cameras and devices have made it easier; if your camera or device is only a
few years old then it probably came with a long lead around a meter long with a
large connector at one end and a much smaller connector at the other. This is described
as a USB lead and may look a bit like Fig 1 below.

Fig 1.
Transferring your video clips is simple just plug the large connector into the back
(or on some computers you may have USB connectors to the front) and plug the small
connector onto your camera. Turn the camera on and again if your computer is a Mac,
has XP, or windows 2000 your operating system will detect your camera and display it as
another hard drive, you then just simply navigate to your video clips and copy them locally
onto your computer.
Once you have created an account on Buzdeo, logon and if this is your first video to
upload just click on the 'Add new Video to your collection' link and this will take
you to a page with a button called 'Locate video file', locate the video file that
you copied locally onto your computer and then click upload to server. That’s it!,
your video will now be encoded by the Buzdeo servers and you will be emailed when it
is ready to share (this normally takes no longer than 10 minutes). You can then see
view the video on your home page and share with other people.
So there it is, you can be sharing a video in less than 10 minutes, it really
is that easy!
